COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
CITY OF GRANT, NEBRASKA
January 27, 2026
Mayor Lisa Schmitt convened a meeting of the Council of the City of Grant, Nebraska in open and public session on January 27, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. Notice of this meeting was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel, the City’s designated method for giving notice, January 22, 2026; The notice of meeting was also posted in advance at Pinnacle Bank, Grant City Hall, and the U.S. Post Office, and to members of the City Council; a copy of their Acknowledgment of Receipt and the Agenda are attached to these minutes. Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Mayor and Council of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
Mayor Lisa Schmitt announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.
Roll call: Present Council members: Kimberly Bishop, Andrea Brueggeman, Tierney Petersen, and Mayor Lisa Schmitt. Absent Council members: Samuel Sims.
Others present: City Superintendent Derek Brueggeman, City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, City Attorney Tawna Holmstedt, et al.
The motion was made by Brueggeman and seconded by Petersen to accept the January 27, 2026 agenda as presented.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Petersen to approve the minutes of the January 13, 2026 meeting as presented and waive the reading and seconded by Bishop.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
COMMUNICATIONS: City Superintendent, Derek Brueggeman, informed the Council of the upcoming board meetings: the Board of Adjustment will meet tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.; the Planning Commission will meet February 4th at 6:00 p.m.; the Cemetery Board will meet on February 10th at 5:15 p.m.; the next City Council meeting will be on February 10th at 7:00 p.m.; and the Library Board will meet February 11th at 5:15 p.m.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Council member, Bishop – none. Council member, Brueggeman – gave an update on the tree board meeting. Council member, Petersen – gave an update on the library board meeting. Council member, Sims – none.
FINANCIALS – Acknowledged as received.

Action and Discussion on Resolution No. 26-01-02, A Resolution for Perkins County Chamber of Commerce to Provide Funds from the City of Grant’s Economic Development Fund – A motion was made by Bishop to approve Resolution No. 26-01-02, A Resolution for Perkins County Chamber of Commerce to Provide Funds from the City of Grant’s Economic Development Fund and seconded by Petersen.

A RESOLUTION FOR PERKINS COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO PROVIDE FUNDS FROM THE CITY OF GRANT’S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FUND
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
The Resolution will be published in pamphlet form.
Action and Discussion on Annual Library Report – Robin Quinn – Library Director, Robin Quinn presented the annual library report and answered any questions. A motion was made by Brueggeman to accept the Annual Library Report as presented and seconded by Bishop.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
Action on Bills & Claims – 20/20 Technologies, tech support/software – 500.50; A.S.A.P. Express, postage – 40.00; Brueggeman, Derek, dues & training – 239.25; Eakes Office Solutions, supplies – 73.99; Guardian, employee benefits – 102.00; League of Nebraska Municipalities, dues & training – 1,329.00; Lincoln Winwater Works, supplies – 5,380.38; MEAN, transmission charge – 128,607.04; Midwest Electric, utilities – 667.39; MWC-KAN, dumpster repair – 18,000.00; Novus Glass, supplies & repairs – 418.18; Perkins County Treasurer, police contract – 9,498.86; Ride Rite Garage, refunds – 50.00; Sandhills State Bank, employee benefits – 555.00; American Funds, retirement – 1,515.12; Nebraska Department of Revenue, sales tax – 9,069.29; United States Treasury, federal tax withholding – 3,456.19; Overtime Wages 12/28-1/10– 82.86; Total Bills and Claims $179,585.05.
The motion was made by Petersen and seconded by Brueggeman to approve the Bills and Claims in the amount of $179,585.05.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
Bishop, Brueggeman & Petersen reviewed the bills and claims prior to the meeting.
Mayor Lisa Schmitt adjourned this meeting of the Grant City Council at 7:26 P.M.
