Council Minutes - October 9, 2018

COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

CITY OF GRANT, NEBRASKA

October 9, 2018

 

                Mayor Michael Wyatt convened a meeting of the Council of the City of Grant, Nebraska in open and public session on October 9, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.  Notice of this meeting was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel, the City’s designated method for giving notice, October 3, 2018, and members of the City Council and a copy of their Acknowledgment of Receipt and the Agenda are attached to these minutes.  Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Mayor and Council of this meeting.  All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.

Mayor Michael Wyatt announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.

Roll call:  Present Council members:  Bishop, Brueggeman, Greenwood, Pierce and Mayor Wyatt.  

Others present:  City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, Attorney, Phil Pierce, et al.

The motion was made by Greenwood and seconded by Pierce to approve the agenda as presented.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Greenwood to approve the minutes of the September 25, 2018 meeting with the correction to add Bishop reviewed Bills & Claims and waive the reading and seconded by Pierce.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

 

COMMUNICATIONS: City Clerk/Treasurer, Jessie Faber informed the Council of upcoming board meetings, the library board will meet tomorrow at 7:00 am, the CRA board will meet on October 22nd at noon, and the tree board is planning to have a tree program on October 16th.  Faber also let the Council know the Auditor’s will be out on Monday for the fieldwork portion of the audit.  Faber informed the Council that the bid opening for the street sweeper will be at 2:00pm on October 17th.

 

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: 

Council member, Pierce – none. Council member, Bishop – none. Council member, Brueggeman – gave an update on the tree board meeting. Council member, Greenwood – none.

Action on Mayoral Appointment – Housing Authority – Penny Lee – A motion was made by Brueggeman to approve Penny Lee to the Housing Authority term ending 12/2020 and seconded by Greenwood.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

The motion was made by Pierce and seconded by Brueggeman to approve the Bills and Claims in the amount of $65,796.93.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

 

Bishop, Brueggeman, Greenwood & Pierce reviewed the bills and claims prior to the meeting.

 

Mayor Michael Wyatt adjourned this meeting of the Grant City Council at 7:28 P.M.
