Council Minutes - June 26, 2018

COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

CITY OF GRANT, NEBRASKA

June 26, 2018

 

                Mayor Michael Wyatt convened a meeting of the Council of the City of Grant, Nebraska in open and public session on June 26, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.  Notice of this meeting was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel, the City’s designated method for giving notice, June 20, 2018, and members of the City Council and a copy of their Acknowledgment of Receipt and the Agenda are attached to these minutes.  Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Mayor and Council of this meeting.  All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.

Mayor Michael Wyatt announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.

Roll call:  Present Council members:  Bounds, Brueggeman, Greenwood, Pierce and Wyatt.

Others present:  City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, et al.

The motion was made by Greenwood and seconded by Pierce to approve the agenda as presented.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Pierce to approve the minutes of the June 12, 2018 meeting and waive the reading and seconded by Bounds.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – Bounds & Pierce. Nays – Greenwood. Abstain – Brueggeman.  Yea -Mayor Wyatt. Motion carried.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:  City Clerk/Treasurer, Jessie Faber informed the Council that the City Offices will be closed on Wednesday to observe Independence Day.  Also the board of health will meet July 5th at 7:00 pm and the tree board will meet on July 10th at 4:00 pm.  Faber stated that armor coating will begin on Thursday and a map is located on the City website.

Council member, Bounds – none. Council member, Pierce – none. Council member, Brueggeman – none. Council member, Greenwood – none.

Action on Special Designated Liquor License – Harlan Brott –Wedding Reception 8/4/18 – A motion was made by Brueggeman to approve the special designated liquor license for Harlan Brott for a wedding reception at the Perkins County Fairgrounds August 4, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 12:00 am and allow the City Clerk/Treasurer to sign on behalf of the City and seconded by Greenwood.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

 

Action on Special Designated Liquor License – Harlan Brott –Wedding Reception 8/18/18 – A motion was made by Bounds to approve the special designated liquor license for Harlan Brott for a wedding reception at the Perkins County Fairgrounds August 18, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 12:00 am and allow the City Clerk/Treasurer to sign on behalf of the City and seconded by Brueggeman.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

 

Action on Resolution 18-6-01 Approving Grant Fairview Cemetery Rules & Regulations – A motion was made by Pierce to approve Resolution 18-6-01 Grant Fairview Cemetery Rules & Regulations and seconded by Bounds.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – Bounds, Brueggeman & Pierce. Nays – Greenwood.  Motion carried.

The Resolution will be published in pamphlet form.

 

Action on Resolution 18-6-2 Approving Grant Fairview Cemetery Fees – A motion was made by Bounds to approve Resolution 18-6-2 Grant Fairview Cemetery Fees and seconded by Pierce.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – Bounds, Brueggeman & Pierce. Nays – Greenwood.  Motion carried.

The Resolution will be published in pamphlet form.

 

Discussion on Code Book Update – Chapter 5 – Business Regulations – The Council discussed possible changes they would like to see made in the Chapter 5 Business Regulations.

 

Request to be placed on the agenda – Lisa Schmitt –  Mayor Wyatt, announced no discussion will take place this evening on this presentation it is for presentation purposes only until the City Attorney and City Accountant have time to review.  Lisa Schmitt with the Perkins County Pool Project Committee presented information to the council and Connie Pofahl & Jana Turner with the committee assisted in presenting portions of the packet to the Council.

The motion was made by Pierce and seconded by Brueggeman to approve the Bills and Claims in the amount of $135,267.12.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

 

Bounds, Brueggeman, Greenwood & Pierce reviewed the bills and claims prior to the meeting.

 

Mayor Michael Wyatt adjourned this meeting of the Grant City Council at 8:08 P.M.
