Council Minutes - June 12, 2018

COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

CITY OF GRANT, NEBRASKA

June 12, 2018

 

                Mayor Michael Wyatt convened a meeting of the Council of the City of Grant, Nebraska in open and public session on June 12, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.  Notice of this meeting was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel, the City’s designated method for giving notice, June 6, 2018, and members of the City Council and a copy of their Acknowledgment of Receipt and the Agenda are attached to these minutes.  Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Mayor and Council of this meeting.  All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.

Mayor Michael Wyatt announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.

Roll call:  Present Council members:  Bounds, Greenwood, Pierce and Mayor Wyatt.  Absent:  Brueggeman

Others present:  City Administrator Dana Harris, City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, Attorney, Phil Pierce, et al.

The motion was made by Pierce and seconded by Bounds to approve the agenda as presented.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Pierce to approve the minutes of the May 22, 2018 meeting and waive the reading and seconded by Bounds.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – Bounds & Pierce. Nays – Greenwood.  Yea -Mayor Wyatt.

Motion carried.

 

COMMUNICATIONS: City Administrator, Dana Harris informed the Council that the library board will meet tomorrow at 7:00 am. Harris gave a report on the hydrant testing from Chief Softley’s letter the City received.  Also Harris wanted to state that we have had some vandalism occurring at the cemetery and the Sheriff’s office has been notified.

 

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: 

Council member, Bounds – none. Council member, Pierce – none. Council member, Brueggeman – none. Council member, Greenwood – gave an update on the CRA board meeting.

                                                                                                                        

WATER, ENFORCEMENT & LOTTERY REPORTS – Acknowledged as received.

 

FINANCIALS – The financials are in process and will be reviewed at the next meeting.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Discussion on Code Book Update – Chapter 6 – Public Ways and Property – The Council discussed possible changes they would like to see made in the Chapter 6 Public Ways and Property.

 

NEW BUSINESS:            

Action on Special Designated Liquor License - Middle of Nowhere Bar –Perkins County Fair – A motion was made by Bounds to approve the special designated liquor license for Middle of Nowhere Bar at the fair July 20, 2018 from 4:30 pm to 12:30 am and July 21, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 12:30 am for a derby and live music and allow the City Clerk/Treasurer to sign on behalf of the City and seconded by Pierce.

Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

 

Action on Mayoral Appointments – Board of Adjustments – A motion was made by Pierce to approve the Mayoral Appointments to the Board of Adjustments as presented and seconded by Bounds. The appointments stated are:

Discussion on Fairview Cemetery Rules and Regulations – The Council discussed the Fairview Cemetery rules and regulations.  A motion was made by Greenwood to table to the next meeting after Phil Pierce prepares a resolution.  The motion died due to lack of second.

The motion was made by Bounds and seconded by Pierce to approve the Bills and Claims in the amount of $244,815.22.

Bounds, Greenwood & Pierce reviewed the bills and claims prior to the meeting.

 

Mayor Michael Wyatt adjourned this meeting of the Grant City Council at 8:15 P.M.
