COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
CITY OF GRANT, NEBRASKA
September 15, 2008
Mayor Michael Wyatt convened a special budget hearing of the Council of the City of Grant, Nebraska in open and public session on September 15, 2008 at 5:15 p.m. Notice of this special budget hearing was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel, the City’s designated method for giving notice, September 11, 2008, and members of the City Council and a copy of their Acknowledgment of Receipt and the Agenda are attached to these minutes. Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Mayor and Council of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
Mayor Wyatt announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.
Roll call: Present Council members: Brueggeman, Hansen, Pick, Pierce, and Mayor Wyatt.
Others present: City Administrator Tyson McGreer, City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, et al.
The motion was made by Brueggeman and seconded by Pierce to approve the agenda as presented.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
OPEN HEARING - Mayor Wyatt opened the hearing at 5:17 p.m. and budget discussion for the Fiscal Year 2008-09 budget followed.
CLOSE HEARING - Mayor Wyatt closed the hearing at 5:45 p.m.
NEW BUSINESS:
ACTION ON ORDINANCE 08-09-02 APPROPRIATION BILL AND APPROVING A ONE PERCENT INCREASE ABOVE THE BASE LIMITATION IN RESTRICTED FUNDS – A motion was made to waive the three readings by Pick and seconded by Pierce.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
Pierce read the Ordinance 08-09-02 “AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION BILL AND APPROVING A ONE PERCENT (1%) INCREASE ABOVE THE BASE LIMITATION IN RESTRICTED FUNDS; AND PROVIDE FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE.”
Pierce then made the motion to approve Ordinance 08-09-02 and was seconded by Pick.
Roll call vote: Yeas – all present. Nays – none. Motion carried.
The Ordinance will be published in pamphlet form.
ACTION ON RESOLUTION 08-09-01 TAX REQUEST – A motion was made to accept Resolution 08-09-01 property tax request by Brueggeman and seconded by Pierce.
Resolution 08-09-01
WHEREAS, Nebraska Revised Statute 77-1601 provides that the property tax request for the
prior year shall be the property tax request for the current year for the purposes of the levy set by
the County Board of Equalization unless the Governing Body of the City of Grant passes by
majority vote a resolution or ordinance setting the tax request at a different amount; and
WHEREAS, a special public hearing was held as required by law to hear and consider comments
concerning the property tax request; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Grant that the property tax request for the
current year be a different amount than the property tax request for the prior year.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Governing Body of the City of Grant, by a majority vote, resolves that:
1. The 2008-2009 property tax request be set at $180,000.00.
2. A copy of this resolution be certified and forwarded to the County Clerk prior to
October 13, 2008
Passed, approved and adopted on September 15, 2008.

Mayor Wyatt adjourned this meeting of the Grant City Council at 5:52 P.M.
