COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

CITY OF GRANT, NEBRASKA

July 8, 2008

            Mayor Adam Uehling convened a meeting of the Council of the City of Grant, Nebraska in open and public session on July 8, 2008 at 7:02 p.m.  Notice of this meeting was given in advance by publication in the Grant Tribune Sentinel, the City’s designated method for giving notice, July 2, 2008, and members of the City Council and a copy of their Acknowledgment of Receipt and the Agenda are attached to these minutes.  Availability of the Agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Mayor and Council of this meeting.  All proceedings hereafter shown were recorded while said meeting was open to the attendance of the public.

            Mayor Uehling announced the posting of the Open Meetings Act and its location.

            Roll call:  Present Council members:  Brueggeman, Pick, Pierce, Wyatt and Mayor Uehling.

Others present:  City Administrator Tyson McGreer, City Clerk/Treasurer Jessie Faber, City Attorney Phil Pierce, et al.

The motion was made by Brueggeman and seconded by Pierce to approve the agenda as presented.

            Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present. Nays – none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Pierce to approve the minutes of the June 24, 2008 meeting and waive the reading and seconded by Pick.

 Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present  Nays – none. Motion carried.

COMMUNICATIONS:  City Manager, Tyson McGreer, informed council of upcoming meetings, a change has been made to the open meeting act and the wording has been changed on the poster in the council chambers, and asked the council about mosquito spraying south of the highway and council said it was okay to spray for mosquitos along the highway.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: 

Council member, Wyatt – none.  Council member, Brueggeman – none.  Council member, Pick – none.  Council member, Pierce – none.

WATER, ENFORCEMENT AND LOTTERY REPORTS - Acknowledged as received.

FINANCIALS – Will have done in the next few days.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Employee Compensation Review.   Council okayed the 4% wage increase for budget purposes.

Discussion on Prohibiting Truck Parking in City Limits.  Some different options were discussed and the council asked that we look at some of the communities around the area with ordinance on truck parking and see how they are worded.  No action taken.

NEW BUSINESS:

Annual Program Audit on the Economic Development.  Ron Kent gave an update to the council on the Economic Developments activity from January to June.  No action taken.

Audit Engagement for Almquist, Maltzahn, Galloway, and Luth.  A motion was made by Wyatt to engage Almquist, Maltzahn, Galloway, and Luth for the year end September 30, 2008 audit not to exceed $6950.00 and seconded by Pick.

            Roll call vote:  Yeas – all present.  Nays – none. Motion carried.

Darrell Pierce – Discussion on renting New Hanger.  The council discussed options on renting out the new hanger. No action taken.

Mayor Uehling adjourned this meeting of the Grant City Council at 8:30 P.M.
